Culinate Shopping Trip
So if you’re reading this tumblog, it probably means that you know me, or at least have been to my website (i’m going to plug it here: www.laraadler.com), which means of course that you read my blog posts there, and quite possibly recieve my free monthly newsletter (what? you don’t get it? dude, seriously, send me your email, and I’ll put you on it. It’s like, all the rage.). So yeah, since you read my blog, you’ll know that not only was I picked as a finalist in the Culinate blogging contest, but that I was selected as the winner! WOOHOO! I was, and still am, so pleased.
Grand prize, was $100 to spend at the farmers market. Thankfully I didn’t have to blow it all in one go, which would have made me less pleased, cos like, there’s only so many greens I can eat in a week. Anyway, I went with mi madre last weekend and pigged out on wild asparagus, and greens. Since I normally go to the farmers market with a budget, it was totally overwhelming to have so much to spend in one place. I had to go through the whole market twice before committing to anything, just in case I saw something even more amazing at the next table. I should have taken more pics, because there was so much more to see, but I was so distracted by the “oooh, look at those mushrooms” and “oh holy sh*t! check out those strawberries” and “eh, the rhubard at the first table was totally better than this”…
Anyway, here are my pics. I walked away from the market with 1/2 a pound of wild asparagus, 1 carroty cookie thing which was delish, 1 bunch of mint, 1 insanely huge bunch of cilantro, 1 bunch of arugula, 2 bunches of some really tasty green who’s name I forgot (all the nutrients of spinach, sans oxalic acid), a bag of apples for a dollar, and 5 really amazing organically grown tomato trasplants. I still have like $60 left to spend :)
